Digital Forensics identifies fake photos of Iran’s missile.

A very fresh incident of digitally altering the photos has come up from Iran.

Sepah News website owned by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards had published an image of their missile launch on 9 July. The initially published image showed 4 missiles launching at the same time. But on 10 July, they published a similar image, but showing only 3 missiles.

The whole purpose of these launches was to demonstrate Iran’s capabilities in which several missiles were test-fired, including an enhanced version of the Shahab-3. But the photo showing one out of four rockets failing did not have the intended impact.

Rather Iran has been criticized by many people for doctoring the photos. Also forensic experts have stressed on the fact that the technological advancements leads to such malpractices, and digital forensics would be the only option if such fake photos make people suffer.
